The Annals of African Surgery joins the African Journals Partnership Program

The Annals of African Surgery was admitted into the AJPP at the program’s Annual meeting held in Denver, Colorado, May 18th-19th, 2016. The formal start of the partnership was August 2016. Invited to the Denver meeting was the EIC, Prof Hassan Saidi, who made a presentation to the membership on the origins growth, current status and future prospects for the journal.

The AJPP was founded thirteen years ago and twins select African medical and health journals with leading biomedical journals in USA and UK. The Annals of African Surgery will be mentored by the Annals of Internal Medicine and the Ethiopian Journal of Health Sciences. Under this partnership the quality of research, reach and discoverability of the Annals of African Surgery will be boosted.

In addition to journal mentoring, the program builds editorial skills through training of editorial teams, reviewers and authors. Support for infrastructure acquisition by AJPP will facilitate editorial workflows. A key aspect of the partnership is implementation of automated peer review submission process using the ScholarOne system. In time, The Annals of African Surgery will have a stronger online presence, discoverability through indexing in Medline, Web of Science, Scopus and others.

The Annals of African Surgery is grateful to the directors of AJPP, membership and all those who have made it possible for us to reach this point. For more information about AJPP, visit http://ajpp-online.org/
