The AAS held its first Reviewers Training on 11th August 2018 at the Upper Hill Medical Centre (UHMC), Nairobi. The aim of the training was to equip reviewers with the necessary skills to improve the quality of their reviews. The Elsevier volunteers, Chandramouli Srividya and Silva Marlene were on hand to give the publishers’ perspectives. The AAS Editorial Board, led by the EIC, also delivered content as to why one would want to be a reviewer for the journal as well as the ethics of reviewership. The program culminated in participants being taken through a hands-on review session. It was agreed by all that reviewer trainings are insightful. Participants felt that similar trainings be rolled out regionally as they would grow the quality of reviews.
